Listen To Your Wife!

Why do you suppose God created woman? Hmmm ... wait. Let me go ask some kids :D . Ok, I'm back. I asked 4 of them, 2 boys and 2 girls, all just kids, maybe 12 years old. I said, "Tell me the first thought that comes into your mind without thinking ..." and I asked , "Why did God made woman? Without missing a beat, 3 of them said, "To make babies". The fourth (a boy) thought for a while then said ... "for man". I asked "how so?" to which he replied ... to make babies. Sigh ... have we parents taught our kids well?

We observe in certain people groups, or cultures, that women are reckoned as unimportant. I guess like those kids, they too thought women were made by God for the purpose of propagation and for man and nothing more. That's why for generations, women do not have social status and are sidelined, abused and treated unfairly. It took America couple of hundred years before women were finally able to vote!

Just as rain falls on the righteous and the unrighteous, God is no respecter of sexes. He loves and values us all the same. Letting Eve (the first woman) come later is an intentional part of God's plan so that man may appreciate this precious gift in His overall creation. God knew exactly what He was doing back then and it was according to His plan. Well, the sad news is both man and woman disobeyed God and sin therefore entered into the human race. The devil who was behind this rebellion went on to infiltrate the human race through the sin of man and eroded the very plans of God. Long story short, women today is looked upon as the lesser of humanity.

It is true that when God made both man and woman, God made them different. We know women as we know them in today's context and social status. But what they really are when God first created them to be is being rediscovered in the church today as our perspectives towards each other are being shaped by the Word of God. Though we may be somewhat different in form and stature, nevertheless in essence, we are all made the same.

So why do you suppose God made women? If you know God's Word, then you'll know why. And if you know why, then you'll know how to get along with them. Now, the purpose of this posting ... (and yes, I am still on the "Financial Thingy") is to caution you gentlemen that as you sail thorough tough times, learn to LISTEN TO YOUR WIFE! They are God's helpmate for you, especially in tough times! If you insist on being that egoistic male who thinks a wife's place is confined only to her role as a wife and mother and that she should not be involve in her husband's business affairs, etc, then you ought to do a Biblical study on the word "helpmate" lest you deprive yourself of the God ordained help and counsel in times you needed it most! I've learned all these years preaching God's Word that if you men would just listen to your wives, and consult with them, you'd be amazed how God could have given you the right counsel at the time you needed it most!

The one closest to you, who knows you deeply, and who is loyal and respectful towards you and who have your best interest at heart, the faithful one, she will be your help meet not just in good times but especially in tough times. When she prays, God listens to her. And when she cries to God for help on your behalf God will respond to her quickly. Seek her counsel especially if it evolves your work. Women are more intuitive than men. Your wife will be able to caution you in regard to financial decisions. After all, God made her a helpmate for you.

There are numerous examples in the Bible as to how God used women to do great exploits. They are discerning, intuitive. They may not ( I said may not) understand technical business procedures (like most men too), but she can often discern the moral character of a business agreement or associate. You do well not just to have married her, but also to listen to her and to seek her counsel. After all, God is no respecter of persons and since you have taken upon yourself a wife, God choose to speak to you through her. Have you seek her counsel lately?
