Good Morning Rebekah!

Since last Sunday was HAGGAI WEEK, let me once again recap.

HAGGAI PROJECT is about our church building fund. It's helping to fulfill our church V5/10. I picked Rebekah (Issac's wife) for the sermon on Sunday because of the reasons God chose her of all the women that day in answering to Abraham's servant's prayer (Gen. 24). Simply, she was kind and generous. She walked the second mile when she extended herself to water the camels without being asked. WOuld you? Consider this.

1 camel = 20 gallons of water
20 camels = 200 gallons of water.
1 5 gallon jar = 40 trips.
1 minute per trip = 2 hours of work in the sun!

Rebekah was on her way home when Abraham's servant approached her for a drink of water. Yet she so willingly stopped to help a total stranger. That kin of reminds me too of the parable of the Good Samaritan. The one that stopped to help the injured Samaritan was the one who is kind and generous. Kindness and generosity has to do with relationships and relationships matter to God. In the first of the Ten Commandments, God said to love God with all of our heart and soul and might and to "love our neighbor as we love ourselves". If you fail in relationship, you fail. In God's word ...

SUCCESS IN LIFE + FAILURE IN RELATIONSHIP = FAILURE

When God looks for a man/woman for a mission, He looks beyond talents and faults. He looks instead for relational traits. Rebekah was KIND enough to serve Abraham's servant and GENEROUS enough to offer herself to water the camels. That caught the attention of God!

Galatians 3:13-14 states ... "Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us., for it is written: 'Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree." He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit".

Jesus Christ bore our sins upon the cross of Calvary. He took the curse of the law upon himself so that we who believe in Him might be forgiven and that we the Gentiles might receive the blessings of Abraham! Abraham's blessings comes in three fold. 1. Spiritual blessings. 2. Physical blessings (health). 3. Material blessings. Abraham was rich in these three aspects and God wants us to inherit Abraham's blessing.

Rebekah, because she was KIND and GENEROUS, she inherited the blessings of Abraham (literally) and she because the great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great grandmother of Jesus Christ! If you want Abraham's blessings in your life, get right with Jesus. Be KIND. Walk the second mile and be GENEROUS. Keep your relationship with God right and keep your relationship with people right. God's blessings will overtake you.

So, it's HAGGAI 2009 church. Go beyond kindness. Be generous and inherit the blessings of Abraham.
