What Are You Pt.2

So, what are you? Are you a soul man? Or a "feel" man? Or are you the spirit man that God has made you to be?

Reasoning is the voice of the soul. Many would listen to their reasoning than to rely on the inward witness of the Holy Spirit within our spirit. The "feel" man of course listen to the voice of the body (which is feelings) more than they do the reasoning or the intuitive conscience voice of our spirit man. As a result, their SOUL part is rather confused and we call such persons ... fickle minded. They go by feelings.

What you need to understand is our SOULS are that part of us that decide, that make decisions. It consist of the intellect (your thinking ability) and the WILL (your deciding ability). For example, if I feed your mind with information with regard a product I want to sell and say, I am rather convincing, your mind will take in the info and assimilate it. Through a process of thinking, you then have to make a decision ... buy or don't buy or perhaps buy later. Now if I am a super salesman, I will entice not just your mind but also your emotions. Very soon, you'll be thinking about it all the time (that's your soul speaking) and you'll be feeling like you just have got to have it (that's your body speaking). So there are 2 voices now speaking to you ... your reasoning and your feelings. Who will have the final say?

BUT there is another voice speaking ... that is the voice of your spirit man (the real you). Against all reasoning and against all feelings, perhaps something deep on the inside of you is telling you what you should do. Conscience is the voice your your spirit and it is in your spirit that God is going to lead you and guide you. That's why sometimes people tell you to "listen to your heart."

As a Christian, we have the life and nature of God in us (that's eternal life). Our human spirit is regenerated and we can expect the Holy Spirit to lead us in our spirit. Intuition, conscience now becomes another avenue of guidance as we make decisions in our lives. Our conscience, because of the new nature and being renewed daily by the Word of God, is now a reliable guide. It is not influence by our feelings nor reasoning. It derives it's "illumination" solely from our Maker. That's why Proverbs says, "the spirit of man is the lamp of the Lord searching his innermost parts.". When God communicates with us, it is not though our bodies (feelings) or our souls (reasoning). The Bible says, "The Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirits that we are sons of God." How do you know you are a child of God? Not by reasoning nor by feelings but by the Holy Spirit in us.

Paul says to strengthened the inner man daily and to crucify the flesh daily. If you and I were to grow wise and spiritual and relevant today, we have need to listen to our inner man. You spend time building your outer man by exercising and nutrition. You build your mind by reading and studying and making decisions constantly. What are you doing to strengthen your inner man, to feed it? You know, psychologist calls our spirit man the SUB-CONSCIOUS MIND. They say that's the power house. That's where the potential lies. They say we are only using 10% of our mind (conscious mind). What they don't understand we do. We know essentially we are not a physical man nor just an intellectual man. We are a spirit man, made in the likeness of God and God is a spirit Being.

Pay attention to your spirit man. Don't just depend on coming to church once a week. It needs daily attention. Bible says to renew our minds daily with the Word of God for God's word is our bread of life. Life is so much more fulfilling when you are led by the Holy Spirit.

So, what are you? A spirit man (led by the Holy Spirit) or a soul man (led by your reasoning, intellect) or a feel-man (led by your emotions)?
