Choose Ye This Day ...

When you go to a doctor, you are expecting help to get well, don't you? Otherwise why visit with your doctor. When you patronize a restaurant, you expect to eat. Same manner, when you pray, or when you believe in God, you are expecting God to come to your aid. If not, why pray? Yet many pray but few believe.

The trick about praying is the "believing" part. Bible says ... "without faith it is impossible to please God." Jesus taught us too the need to believe when He himself said ... "When you pray, believe". Yet ... many pray but few believe. To believe is to reckon it as a done deal! It's graduating from the school of HOPE to the school of DONE DEAL. But it is so easy to pray and so hard to actually believe. Sigh ...

Joshua puts it before the people of Israel ... "(Josh 24:15) But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD."

Way I see it, faith is about CHOOSING. It's a cross road between belief and unbelief. IF serving the Lord seems desirable to you, then serve Him. If not then choose some other. The thing here is to CHOOSE. Faith is about choosing to believe even though the odds are against you. It's about choosing to hang in there even though many have already given up. It's about choosing to push yourself another mile even though your body cries out "I'm done!" in a marathon race. Faith is about CHOOSING between belief and unbelief. Who will you serve today?

Faith does not mean you will have everything you are believing for. In the Bible great men of God believed in God till the end of their lives yet not realizing their dreams. BUT ... BUT ... God was pleased with that kind of faith! They believed till the end even though they did not see it come to pass. See, what matter was they believed AND they trusted God for the outcome. Moses didn't make it to the Promised Land. Abraham didn't actually see the birth of a nation promised him. It was all not in God's timing and plan but it was God's promise to them and they believed till the end. The starting point was ... they believed. The ending point was ... God brought it to pass eventually. They died knowing that God will fulfill that which He had spoken. For that, God included them into the Hall of Fame in Hebrews 11 ... a chapter dedicated to the heroes of faith!

I choose to believe rather than to not believe. I expect the outcome to my favor but I trust in God for the outcome. He's got my best interest at heart. If I can't trust him, who then can I trust. Faith is about choosing between belief and unbelief. As for me, I choose to serve the Lord.

Greater Him ... Lesser us.
