The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Forgive me for being fickle minded but I kinda "miss" writing on my blog. It's been months. I don't know who reads my blog. Don't know if it has much influence over anyone, but let me give it another shot. Perhaps if I am very famous? Ha..ha. That's a problem for us. See, there are people with great wisdom or talent but because they are not "famous" no one listens to them. Then there are those who are famous but lack sense and morality, yet people listen to them and allow themselves to be under their influence. And all because??? They are famous! I wonder sometimes how far reaching my sermons can be IF I had written them for Rev. David Yonggi Cho. Ha..ha.. :)

When I was a kid, there was this cowboy movie "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly". Think it starred Clint Eastwood. Well, something similar in the Bible. I quote Romans 12:2 ... "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will."

God's will can be "categorized" into either "good", "pleasing" or "perfect". Which would you rather choose? I guess you'd think ..."hmmm.... it depends." Will it cost too much? Will I be happy with it? Will it fit into my plans? Jonah didn't quite like God's perfect will for his life, so he ran. Israel settled for God's permissible will when they requested for a king to rule over them instead of God. And of course it didn't quite work out for them. And I guess most of us wouldn't mind settling for God's good will because we'd rather be in our comfort zone than out of it. But let me caution. What we expect is what we usually get. Well, whether it's perfect, good or permissible, as long as it is within the boundaries of God's will, I guess we'll do alright. But when we decide to stray out of the boundaries of God's will, then in the realm where the devil is the "god of this world" (2 Cor. 4:4) you can expect troubles. In other words, things will be good for us when we are within God's will. And out of it could be bad, or ugly.

I asked my daughter recently (out of the blues) if she believe God can travel through time. I mean, can He go back to the past or move to the future just as He is in the present? Her respond, "God can do anything." Can't argue with that, can you? So I said, "Then do you believe that time travel is possible?" Ha..ha... I love teasing my kids' minds! Well, let me put this to you then. Do you believe in time travel? I mean if it is possible for God to do so, then time travel is indeed possible, right? So, do you believe in time travel?

Think.

Think again.

Here are my thoughts. It is possible with God. But with us, it is not. And even if we could, it is not permissible of God. With the advancement of science and technology, today scientists are able to teleport (as in Star Trek) a beam of light from point A to point B. Giving more years and if the Lord tarries long enough, who knows what us human can accomplish!

Coming back to my point, I am incline to believe God can time travel. And if God can time travel, then time travel is not a myth or fantasy. It's possible. But what is possible doesn't necessarily mean it has to be possible with us. Time travel is not possible with us because it is not permissible by God and for that God has limited us to a physical mass. We have a body made of flesh and blood! IMAGINE if God permits us to time travel! We can change the past, alter it, thereby affecting the future. That is unthinkable! That will be chaotic! That would be plain playing God!

My point, some things are of God and some things are of man. What God is, who He is, we are not and we can never be. He is the Creator, we are the created. What he can do, we can't 'cos we are not Him. He made the universe. He engineered science. That's His capabilities. That's His department. Dig it? We are not God! We cannot do time travel. There are things that's not permissible for us, things not good, or acceptable. Time travel is one such thing. But that which is good, that which is acceptable and permissible as the will of God, that we can do. That we must do. And that we must go after. If is it not of the will of God, then it could only be the "bad" and the "ugly". Imagine if we could time travel. It would be absolute bad and absolute ugly. That's not our department.

Yet, people would venture where they are not supposed to. Adultery, for example. To venture out of marriage and be in close proximity with a neighbor's wife is in the category of the "bad" and the "ugly". It's punishable by law and detrimental to healthy living, and left unchecked, is a one way ticket to hell. Another example ... being unequally yoked. Scripture warns us of the consequence of being unequally yoked, yet this advice is unheeded. Christians are going after non Christians in relationships and holy matrimony. This is neither the "perfect, good nor permissible" will of God. This is the "bad and the ugly". God wants us to embrace His perfect will, to trust Him absolutely. Knowing us, by His grace, He stretches Himself so that at least if we could not find ourselves in His perfect will, then there is still that which is good and permissible. As if it's not good enough, we choose the "bad and the ugly". How foolish of us!

God loves us. He's got no evil thoughts towards us. His plan is that we live long and prosper and that we would be like His Son Jesus, and embrace His will for our lives. In today's context, people choose to live life independent of God. Maybe it's pride. Maybe it's fear. But if we are going to make it through these end times and not miss the Rapture when the trumpet sounds, we have got to understand the concept of "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly." Anything that is out of the boundaries of God's will is not good. And if we choose to live outside the will of God, then don't be surprise one day when the bad and the ugly comes knocking on your door.

In Revelation, Jesus is knocking at the door of our hearts. Whoever opens the door and let Him come in will find life, peace and happiness. Whoever shuts the door, well, we are living in the end times. And in this world's expression ... good luck.
