What Am I?

Sorry for the long absence. Been away for a spell. It's good to take a break from routine once a while. Someone told me just of late that being a grandpa now, I am entitled to grandpa naps! Ha..ha!

In the parable of the sower that we all know, a sower went out to sow seeds. His intended target were the GOOD SOIL. Due to the elements, some seeds fell by the WAYSIDE. Some on STONY GROUNDS where the soil is shallow, and some too fell on THORNY GROUNDS where there are thorny weeds. In the parable, none of the seeds survived except for that which falls on the good soil, which in the first place was the intended target. And here in good soil, the seeds grew a hundred fold and brought forth a good harvest.

Here's my point. When the gospel is being preached, or where the seeds of God's Word is being sowed, there will four kind of reactions. The WAYSIDE Christians are not interested in the Word. They are in Church for the wrong reasons. The ROCKY Christians are those who receive the Word gladly but not grounded. They only hear what they want to hear and when the real testings come, they falter and fizzle away. The THORNY Christians are those who hear the Word, receive it but when worries comes, they too lose out. In fact, their self-centeredness is that which eventually hurt them. They take offense easily and are always finding faults with others. ROCKY Christians are touchy Christians.

In the parable of the sower, you will notice that the sower pays no attention to the seeds except for those that falls on good soil. He is not distracted by the seeds that falls elsewhere. And here's the lesson for the day. Work on seeds that falls on good soil. As pastor, I used to be distracted by minority Christians who really didn't care much about anything but themselves. They are always complaining, whining, fault finding and I see a lot of pastors trying to pacify them, work on them. Some even have sleepless nights over them! Our call is not to focus on them but rather on GOOD SOIL Christians. These are the ones that's serious about God, about being the LIGHT and the SALT that Jesus spoke of. These are the ones that are loyal and faithful to God. They love God and love His church. They come to serve and not seeking to be served. They maintain unity. They stay through thick or thin. They stand for righteousness. They live not for themselves but reckon themselves as servants of God. They give out of love. They live by example. They look forward to the soon return of Jesus. These are the ones the God blesses. These are the ones that truly make up the church of Jesus Christ. These are the ones who not just live the Kingdom life, but also share it with others. They love God and they love people.
